For parents
Goal: Your child learns that un means not, re means again, ful means full of, and less means without.
- Cover the prefix or suffix with a finger. Read the base word, then add the part back.
- Practice words: unhappy, unkind, redo, reread, helpful, careful, careless, fearless, useless.
- Ask questions like: if re means again, what does rewrap mean?
Away from the screen: Look at labels, boxes and books for words with un, re, ful and less, like refill or useful. Say what each one means.
