Steps are small jobs. We do them in order. Do one step, then the next one.

Start at step 1
Always start at step 1. Then do step 2. Sara did steps 1 and 2. So step 3 comes next.

Do not skip a step
Every step matters. Skip the soap and your hands are not clean. We go one step at a time so we miss nothing.

Follow with your finger
Put your finger on the robot. Read one block. Move your finger one square. Then read the next block. Where does the robot end up?
For parents
Goal: Your child learns to follow steps one at a time, in order, without skipping, and watches a robot follow its blocks the same way. Then come three short game labs.
Ask: which step are you on? What comes next?
In the labs, have your child touch each block with a finger before the robot runs.
When a step is skipped, ask what would happen without it.
Away from the screen: Write three or four simple steps on cards, like touch your toes, clap twice, turn around. Your child follows them in order, then writes steps for you.
