- move right
One block, one square
Each move block moves the robot one square. Not two squares. Not three. Just one.
- move rightmove right
Put blocks together
Two blocks move the robot two squares. A list of move blocks makes a path.
- move downmove downcollect the star
Count the squares
Count the squares to the star. It is two squares down. So the path needs two down blocks.
- move downmove rightmove right
Turning a corner
Sometimes the path turns. A rock blocks the way here. Go down first. Then go right two times.
- move rightmove rightmove up
Count every move
This path has three blocks. That is three moves. The shortest path has no extra blocks.
For parents
Goal: Your child learns that each move block moves the robot one square, and puts blocks together to build a path to a goal in three short game labs.
- Before your child taps any blocks, ask: how many squares away is the goal?
- Have your child trace the path with a finger and say each move out loud.
- If there is a rock, ask: which way can the robot go around it?
Away from the screen: Be the robot. Your child gives you moves, like right, right, up, and you take one big step for each one to reach a toy across the room. Then swap.
